"David de Miguel Ángel"

General description = David is a sculpture of white marble of 5,17-metros1 height and 5572 kg of mass, 2 made by Michelangelo Buonarroti between 1501 and 1504 by order of the Opera del Duomo of the Cathedral of Santa María de el Fiore de Florencia. The sculpture represents the biblical King David in the time prior to confront Goliath, and was hailed as a symbol of the Republic of Florence against the hegemony of their toppled leaders, the Medici, and the threat of adjacent States, particularly the Papal States.

INTRODUCTION:


The title of this work is David de Miguel Ángel, was created by Miguel Ángel of the year 1501 to 1504, this sculpture is of Renaissance style.



COMMENT AND ANALYSIS:


This sculpture is a figure that is made with relief and free standing figure. It is a sculpture carved in white marble. The volume that has this sculpture is regular. In this sculpture the artist as that has not a point where due mainly to light, but mainly light gives foreground of sculpture . It has political function that was created by the battle had David against Goliath. It is historical theme but can at the same time be mythological. This sculpture has an expressive significance and is at the same time realistic.

The work is of the cinquecento, is important because it is one of the first works that is shows the naked person.
An important work from this period is "La Piedad", also made by Miguel Ángel, one of them is the Moses of Miguel Ángel.


CONCLUSION:


To my I like this sculpture, also I think that you revolutionized a bit to be one of the first sculptures that represented a naked person.
