The painting represents the miracle in which, according to tradition, St. Stephen and St. Augustine fell from heaven to personally buried the count of Orgaz.
INTRODUCTION:
This work is called the count of Orgaz, was painted by "El Greco". The style of this painting is the Mannerism. "El Greco" painted it from the year 1586 to 1588, in the 16th century. This table is related to the religion, since the count of Orgaz was a very pious and welfare man in the church of "Santo Tomé".
ANALYSIS:
The technique used in this painting is oil and in the material that has been worked on canvas. The prospect is deeply that it will dissipate upwards. Top has a diaphanous light not coming from a defined source, the part below presents the body of the count of Orgaz and saints more illuminated than the rest as well as the faces give them represented persons. Torches that have some individuals modify the brightness of the picture creating some contrasts between light and shadow. Mainly used is black and gold, but also grayish, and also some details white and red colors are used to highlight the clothing of the Virgin. The composition painting is symmetrical. This has a religious function, as you can be seen in the painting. The figures in this painting are not very realistic, since nor it shows them very well the expression of the face.
The style is the cinquecento, and this painting is made in the cinquecento, is also a paint renecentista as the vast majority of this time.
One of the works from this period was "The Mona Lisa" by Leaonardo Davinchi, another of which is the school of Athens by Rafael, one of them is the Madonna of the Meadow also made by Rafael.
CONCLUSION:
I like this picture because it is very beautiful and is important for this period, also like it because it is colorful and a religious image is displayed well.
